Exciting Changes: Introducing Taller & Smaller Camp for All Kids and Their Important Adults

One of my favorite camp memories was the 2022 Grand Camp. Seeing grandkids and grandparents spending such intentional time together after the pandemic waned was heartwarming. Grand Camp always sets the tone for summer camp season for us here at La Foret. So, you may be asking, “Logan, if you love it sooo much, why are you now calling it Taller and Smaller Camp?” I have heard people asking and saying, “Why the change? We love Grand Camp the way it is!” The short answer is, to include more people. As our community continues to grow and change, we’ve been listening closely to the needs of our families.

Grand Camp has always been a special time for grandparents and grandchildren to connect, learn, and make memories. But over the years, we’ve noticed something important: not every child has a grandparent who can attend, and not every grandparent is able to participate. We want every child to feel included, supported, and surrounded by people who care about them.

Taller and Smaller Camp opens the door for more connection, more flexibility, and more joy. One of the biggest benefits of this change is that it allows aunts, uncles, godparents, and other caring adults to step in and be part of the experience. Many extended family members have expressed interest in attending, and this new format gives them the chance to join in the fun.

Taller and Smaller Camp ensures that every grandchild can still participate by bringing another special adult—whether that’s a parent, a family friend, a mentor, or some other non-parent adult who plays an important role in their life. No one is left out, and every child gets to enjoy the same memorable experience.

While the name is changing, the heart of the event remains the same. Taller and Smaller Camp will still offer the traditions, activities, and sense of togetherness that made Grand Camp so meaningful. We’re simply expanding the circle so more families can share in the joy. We can’t wait to welcome you to this year’s Family Camp and create new memories—together. We hope all of the grandparents and grandkids that have always attended grand camp will join us, as well as new families and family members as well. We are excited for what this summer will bring!
